The Single Girl’s Guide to San Francisco

Written by: Carla De Guzman/Thursday, Feb 11, 2016 11:04 AM

Marie Claire ranks San Francisco as one of the six best cities in the United States for a single girl. And why not? San Franciscans are known for being fun-loving, out and about sort of people. They are famous for celebrating love in a variety of ways. Why should Valentine’s Day be any different? We round up a quick list of things you can do in San Francisco on the day where everyone seems to be walking around with hearts in their eyes.

Join a Pillow Fight

For girls who need a way to release their post-breakup issues, pack a pillow and head on over to the Justin Herman Plaza for the Great San Francisco Pillow Fight. We’re not kidding. This event brings in thousands of guest tossing feathers at each other just for the heck of it. The best part is that it’s totally ‘unorganized!’ If people show up, it’s probably going to happen.

Explore the Murals on Mission

Cut in between all the sweet Valentines day posts by uploading an awesome OOTD with a mural from the Mission district. While Balmy and Clarion Alley are popular destinations, we suggest taking your photo at The Women’s Building MaestraPeace Mural. It’s a fantastic mural spanning two walls that celebrate women and their achievements.

Catch a Movie

Sounds like a typical couple thing to do, we know, but there are a lot of great film festivals running through February. The famous SF IndieFest hosts a Big Lebowski themed party for fans and non-fans. There’s also Margaret Cho’s #BeRobin The Movie screening - her little dedication to Robin Williams.

Break Out a Power Ballad

As a part of SF IndieFest, the Roxie Theatre hosts an anti-Valentines Day sing-along power ballad show. They encourage guests to come in their best rock glam outfits and sing along to songs that just make you feel good!

Party of One

If you’re feeling a bit brave, head out to a five-star restaurant and find yourself almost immediately seated. You might even end up in the best seat in the house! If you can stand to see the other couples, that is.

Stop and Smell the Tulips

While everyone is at Pier 39 for Tulipmania, why not visit the SF Flower Mart? See everyone buying last-minute blooms for their loved ones while you snap photos and bring home a bunch (or two) of blooms for your bedroom. The Flower Mart promises a large variety of flowers, with vendors happy to sell you anything available.
