Online Meditations To Try Today

In this crazy world, everything has to be fast, instantaneous and sudden. Sometimes living life at twice the speed can get exhausting, and makes you feel out of sorts. It’s easy to forget what it means to slow down and take a moment to be grateful for what’s in front of you. Online meditations have become a nice way to set aside some time in your day to close your eyes and assess, take a quick break to think about things, or maybe just to get a little bit of quiet in an otherwise loud day.

 

Morning Meditation with Music

 

Jonathan Lehmann’s ten-minute morning meditation is all about starting your day on a high note. This ten-minute guided meditation with music is great for when you want to keep up the happy factor for an otherwise trying day, or just need a quick boost for the morning. 

 

Guided Morning Prayer: Setting Intention

 

Theology Professor Tom Bushlack says it takes eight and a half minutes to start your day with intention. In his guided meditation, he helps you refocus yourself to achieve your goal for the day, to keep it in mind while still doing it with gentleness.

 

Body Scan for Sleep

 

The Semel Institute of UCLA has a small collection of guided meditations to follow along. Body Scan for Sleep is a thirteen-minute guide that will look over your body, allowing you to be aware of how it feels as you drift off to sleep. It reminds us a lot of the times our mothers would stroke us to sleep as a child, and unsurprisingly, we’ve fallen asleep to this meditation quite a few times now. 

 

Loving Kindness Meditation

 

To be in loving kindness means to wish happiness for yourself or for someone. In this nine-minute meditation, you are guided through thinking about someone, yourself, or even another creature, and radiating that happiness and kindness that you have been given. It’s a great way to get the happy vibes going, and can be a great first step to dealing with difficult people.
