It's that wonderful time of the year when the air is cool and the trees turn red and gold. Miss Congeniality aside, we'd argue that the perfect date is sometime in autumn, the leaves scattered around you as you sip your pumpkin spice latte in your light jacket. At a loss on what to wear? Here are our five top tips to keep your fashion cool this fall!

The Fall Basics

When we dress up, we find ourselves grabbing for the same kinds of clothes. Whether it's a comfy pair of jeans or your favorite booties, make sure you have your 'base clothes' in order. You want these pieces to be versatile and easy to pair with your 'bolder' choices. Some Fall essentials include a denim jacket, sneakers (which can still be feminine when paired with a skirt or dress!), boots, a good coat and an oversized sweater. These are items you probably already have in your closet, so it's time to bring them out!

Must-haves for Autumn 2015

Now here's your ultimate excuse to shop (or DIY!) for one or two on-trend pieces. The fashion world has declared that Autumn/Winter 2015 is all about shades of pink, deep red, boho chic 70s throwbacks, high necklines, and channeling your inner preppy self. See which of these trends work for you and incorporate them into your essentials.

Accessorize with Pearls

Vogue has spoken. This season's accessories are all about pearls and the new ways we can wear them. While they were draped on models' faces in Givenchy, you can channel your inner Coco Chanel by bringing out your mother's pearls for the fall. Brooches are also back in a big way, so adding one to your hair or a simple frock can add just the right amount of sparkle to your outfit!

Cuff It Up

One annoying thing about buying jeans off the rack is that they sometimes end up becoming too long for the usual Filipina figure. Fortunately for us, everyone's folding up the cuffs of their blue jeans to seem cool, effortless and relaxed. If you're looking to make your humdrum jeans fit better and more fashion-forward, fold them up to new heights--and we're talking all the way up to the knee if needed. This look is best paired with pumps, sandals or your favorite flats!
