You don't have to be a professional bartender to make your favorite drinks. Try these easy cocktail recipes on a bonding night with your friends. Or if you're thinking of whipping up something for your kids, we've also got a few non-alcoholic drinks that you can enjoy together.

COCKTAILS

Margarita

There's nothing like a good margarita to jump-start your evening with the girls.

  • 2 oz Tequila
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 oz orange-flavored liqueur (Cointreau)
  • Salt
  • Ice cubes

Pour the ingredients (except the salt) in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake for about 30 seconds or until chilled. Rub the rim of your glass with a lime slice and press it against a plate with salt. Pour the mixture onto the glass and garnish with a lime slice or a twist of cucumber rind.

Whisky Sour

Want something with a little more zest and kick? This may be just the thing.

  • ½ lemon
  • 1 tsp superfine sugar
  • Whisky
  • Soda

In a small tumbler with ice, combine the juice of the lemon with sugar and let it dissolve. Then add whisky (you can decide how much you want) and a small amount of soda. Adjust the sourness by adding more sugar or soda.

Morning Mimosa

Start the day with something light and fruity. Serve this to your partner along with breakfast for a nice surprise.

  • 6 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 tbsp orange-flavored liqueur
  • White sparkling wine (something that’s not too sweet)
  • Fresh mint leaf

Fill a champagne flute with the wine and then add in the orange juice and liqueur. You can also add in freshly squeezed lemon juice if you want a touch of sourness. Garnish with mint leaf or a curl of orange peel just before serving.

MOCKTAILS

Shirley Temple

Your kids will definitely break into song and dance after a sip of this sweet and fizzy drink.

  • ¼ cup lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage, like 7Up or Sprite
  • 1 ½ tablespoons grenadine syrup
  • 1 maraschino cherry or orange slice

Put the ice in the glass first then mix the lemon-lime soda and grenadine together. Stir them together and garnish with a maraschino cherry or orange slice.

Sangria Sans the Alcohol

Party in a pitcher! Let everyone enjoy the delicious flavor of this popular thirst-quencher.

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 4 cups grape juice
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ lemon (sliced)
  • ½ orange (sliced)
  • 1 small apple or peach
  • 4 cups club soda or seltzer water

Mix the orange juice, sugar, and grape juice in a large pitcher, then cut the fruits into wedges and add them in. Stir until the sugar is dissolved completely. Chill it in the refrigerator and add the soda or seltzer water just before serving. Garnish each glass with a slice of lime or orange.

Non-Alcoholic Piña Colada

Kids playing outside? This tropical drink is the perfect companion on a warm, sunny day.

  • 2 ounces unsweetened pineapple juice
  • 1 ½ ounce cream of coconut
  • ½ cup ice

Combine everything in a blender and blend until the ice is crushed. Pour it into a tall glass and place a small umbrella, a cherry, or a slice of pineapple on top. If you want to give it a fruitier flavor, add in a medium banana in the blender and keep blending until it’s rich and thick. You can even add in vanilla ice cream if you want it creamier.
